My latest obsession

I have this crazy addiction to painting my nails. Not normal colors either, mind you. Anything bright is a must have. My friend from the University of Florida (go Gators!) came and visited last weekend and we went to a nearby outdoor shopping mall. I found the most amazing color ever and had to have it. Its called Sun Worshipper in the Poolside Collection by China Glaze. I may or may not be tempted to go back and get the rest of them. They say you should wear bright colors while running at night and I'll be happy to oblige by wearing this nail polish.

Check out the rest of the collection here

A little bit of history

My recent trip up to Richmond is partially what inspired me to lace up my running shoes and hit the road instead of staying inside on the treadmill. I found a place to live and right behind it up a hill is the cutest little park overlooking the city that I'd love to run at! The path winds up to a view of the James River. I guess when the settlers named Richmond it was because the view of the James River was really similar to that of the Thames River in England. Although I love the sciences, I've always been interested in history too so its nice to finally live (soon anyway!) in a place that has some history behind it. Living in Southwest Florida my whole life, historical sites are few and far between. Its pretty sad when oldest house in your area is moved north to preserve it because the city wants to build on its prime real estate. Gotta love Collier County.

Summer highlight

I'm thinking its probably sad that the highlight of my summer thus far is the premiere of The Bachelorette tonight. Either way, so excited!

So it begins..

So I'm starting a blog to chronicle my four years of dental school that will be starting at the end of July. At the same time, I'm trying to focus on running as well. I've always wanted to be able to call myself a runner but I think I set my hopes too high and when I don't perform the way I want, I give up.

I went for my first outside run today in awhile so I was a little nervous. Just in case I ended up passed out in a ditch I wore a bright green and blue tie dye tshirt so I would be spotted easily. Although I didn't pass out, the extreme humidity got to my clipped back bangs so I looked like a peacoack of sorts. Besides my near death experience of being chased by a 3 pound chihuahua I think it went alright. It was a pretty short run at 2.3 miles but you have to start somewhere.
